Creating Links for Off-Campus Access to Library Resources
Question: How do I set up links to articles or other resources, such as items from the library databases, for Canvas web pages or other locations so that they work from off campus?
Answer: You need to format the links in a way that redirects them through the EZproxy server. If you do not do this, the links will work on campus but not off campus.
Use this Link Generator to create your 'proxied' links:
- The link must be a "persistent" link. This means that the link is not generated with a session identifier. When in doubt, try it, but test it a day later, too, to make sure it still works.
- You do not need to do this for freely available sites (such as Google) or links that already begin with http://proxyko.uits.iu.edu....
- If you have addresses such as http://someaddress.com.proxyko.uits.iu.edu..., this will fix them for you.
- The links generated will work from both on and off campus.
- In order to work, this tool requires that JavaScript be enabled within your browser.
